Why Tuno exists

It started with my dad, and the phone calls.

The story

For years before I lost my dad, I worried he’d be scammed. He was enthusiastic about learning to use his PC, but he genuinely struggled to make sense of what was happening on screen.

The phone calls came at any time of day or night. For me, the problems were usually straightforward. For him, they were anything but. I’d spend hours coaching him through the fix, and it was painful for both of us: he struggled to describe what he was seeing in terms I understood, and I struggled to explain things in terms that made sense to him. Neither of us always managed to stay calm.

On one occasion he rang in a total panic. He’d been writing his memoirs into a document for hours, then, in a flash, it was all gone, and he was distraught. I helped him find it quickly. His relief was palpable.

I built Tuno for people in my dad’s position, and for families in mine. A calm, informed companion to help you through the difficult moments.

Different by design

Every AI assistant on the market is designed for tech-savvy users. They assume you can navigate menus, understand error messages, and type commands. That’s fine for most people. But for the 12.5 million people in the UK aged 65 and over, many of whom find technology confusing, those assumptions don’t work.

So Tuno makes different assumptions. Help is one click from the corner of the screen, because nobody should have to remember where the help lives. It talks in plain words, and it never hurries you. You don’t need to know the right words to search for: describe what’s in front of you, and Tuno works it out with you.
